Mississippi Surveillance Overdose System (MS-SOS) Rapid Alerts

Rapid Alert Reports about Mississippi non-fatal overdoses is an information sharing strategy of the Mississippi Surveillance Overdose System (MS-SOS) to help communities reduce the misuse of illicit and prescription drugs.

Non-fatal overdose responses in hospital emergency departments and in communities by emergency medical services are reported per public safety district. Public health and public safety partners can review areas which may need additional resources to minimize further drug overdoses.

In collaboration with the Mississippi State Department of Health, the Mississippi Overdose Response Strategy team develops products to inform public health and public safety groups on how to best allocate overdose prevention and drug trafficking intervention resources.
